To enhance regional approaches to conflict management and peacebuilding the Great Lakes Project is working with civil society, government, political and interstate actors in Burundi, DRC, Rwanda and Uganda.
At regional level the project collaborates with the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) to support its peacebuilding objectives. These engagements take place at the level of the secretariat and with national and thematic ICGLR focal points in the four countries.
At national level, beyond the ICGLR structures, the Great Lakes Project involves relevant ministries, institutions and political actors as they relate to the peace frameworks that are of importance for the specific country and the region.
Finally the project works with civil society actors in the four regions that are part of GPPAC, NPI-A and ACCORD´s regional network and past activities as well as important players identified through the field assessments and the ICGLR regional civil society forum.
